File Delivery Guidelines

A LINK to your files on Dropbox, WeTransfer, or another file sharing service is preferred over sharing the folder directly.

We do not accept files through Google Drive.
If you need an alternate method from Google Drive, please let us know and we can get you a free upload link for your project.

If you would prefer to upload to my secure FTP server, please let me know. If your project is over 50GB, please let me know.

Please do not use any data compression such as .ZIP, .RAR, or another compression format on the files. We will not accept them.

Audio files should ideally be .wav files at 48k, 24bit or 96k, 24 bit or higher resolution.

File Prep Guidelines

Studio Recording Projects

Please include a lyric sheet(.PDF or .TXT) with designations for what you consider to be the Verses, Choruses, Pre-Choruses, Bridge, etc. as this will help with communicating revisions later in the process. It would also be helpful to include the song's tempo here if a click track was used along with the key the song is in and any modulations that take place.

If your song contains multiple lead or featured vocals and ad-libs, please make sure what you want featured and when is noted on the lyric sheet.

Live Recording Projects

Please deliver ONE master take of your event for mixing.

Rehearsal takes and/or additional performances should be delivered separately in separate folders if needed or requested.

Live projects should include the following information on the project in a separate text file(.PDF or .TXT):

  • Setlist and/or Program Order as it was recorded

  • Tempos and Key Signatures for Each Song

  • Lead vocalist(s) for each song as named in the recording tracks/files.

Please include all click and cue tracks used during the performance.

General Prep Guidelines

  1. Please only send the tracks you’d like in your song/project. Specific takes should be decided before sending me files for mixing.

  2. For new mixes, please send consolidated MULTITRACK files, not STEMS.
The MULTITRACK contains the original files you recorded. All clips on a track should be consolidated into one file.
STEMS stand for STEreo Mix and are files that have already been processed and mixed down from the original multitrack. If your song has not been mixed, yet, you DO NOT have STEMs.

  3. All files must start at 0:00.

  4. Please double-check all edits for clicks and pops before consolidating files for export.

  5. Please do not clean your tom tracks for acoustic drum recordings.
If you really want to clean them, please make sure you don’t remove the sustain of the drums or cut off the attack of the drums.
Don’t worry if you’ve already cleaned them, though.

  6. Track Naming & Numbering

    • Please name all Audio Tracks in your DAW before recording and/or exporting. (ex. Kick In, Kick Out, Snare Top, etc.)
If possible, it is helpful to organize these with two digit numbers at the start of the name (ex. 01 Kick, 02 Snare, etc.) to keep files organized.

    • Please keep names as simple as possible. For example, “12 guitar" or “14 gtr" or "17 gtr solo".

    • When possible, please label drum overheads and rooms with the side of the kit they are on relative to specific cymbals and/or drums (ex. OH-Hat and OH-Ride or OH-Floor Tom.)

    • Make sure all Lead Vocal tracks are specified as “Lead”.
Live recordings featuring multiple songs and/or lead singers should include a document listing song titles with their specific lead singers(as named in the files) and song start times in the session.

    • When sending multiple songs for mixing, please make sure the same file/track naming conventions are used on each song.

  7. Please include/record any Click and/or Cue tracks used during recording. If you have requested stems for live performance use, we will use these to create proper stems.

  8. If there are specific plug-ins you are using to achieve a sound, please make sure and print these to a separate file noted as “processed”. Please leave the original file in there, too, labeled as “original”.

  9. If you have a sound you love and created by blending multiple tracks such as multiple mic's on a guitar or bass, please print that blend to an additional file, but also include the original tracks grouped together. The original tracks should be named logically (ex. gtr 1a, gtr 1b, gtr 1c) and the blend should note it is a blend (ex. gtr 1 blend).

  10. Please label your song's folder with the Song Title, Tempo, Sample Rate, and Bit Depth.
    Example: TheBestSongEver_118bpm_48k_24b

  11. Please include a rough mix of your song(s) with your tracks if you have one available. Live recordings should include the FOH mix.
